Rosehall Shepherds has been carefully breeding large, old-fashioned, straight-back German Shepherds since 2000. These dogs are very healthy, intelligent, gentle, family-friendly dogs. A number of Rosehall dogs have been trained as therapy dogs and are also in other areas of service, but they are primarily family companion dogs. They are part of the family!

We are passionate about nurturing and raising exceptional German shepherd dogs that are the basic breed ideal: Loyal, intelligent and have a lot of heart. We raise and breed our shepherds in a serene and caring environment as we are dedicated to producing dogs that are as devoted to their families as they are to their training and purpose.

Our carefully selected bloodlines and our commitment to excellence ensure each puppy has the temperament, health and beauty to thrive in any role.

What Sets Us Apart?

Health and Temperament: Every Rosehall shepherd is raised with love and care. We do health screenings on our parent dogs to ensure strong genetics and balanced dispositions. We test each puppy’s temperament before you make your pick so you can choose the best temperament to fit your lifestyle.

Experienced Breeding: We have been breeding since 2000. Our years of expertise allow us to focus on preserving the integrity and legacy of the old-style German shepherd dog.

Support: From puppy selection to training advice, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions About German Shepherd Dogs

The AKC breed standard is strong, agile and well-muscled. Temperament is direct and fearless but not hostile. The German Shepherd dog is self-confident but aloof. It often attaches to one family member more than the rest but loves everyone in its “pack.”

We do not breed for AKC size standards, which are:

·         Height: 24 to 26 inches at the top of the shoulder blade for males and 22 to 24 inches for females. Our males are often upwards of 27 inches, while our females can reach 26 inches or higher. Depending on the parents, some of our dogs may be closer to the breed standard.

·         Sloped Back: As with the breed standard, our shepherds are longer than they are tall, but we do not breed for the sloped back, as that causes hip and joint issues. We breed old-fashioned, straight-back shepherds. You can see pictures of what the original German Shepherd dog looked like before the sloped back was bred into the genetic here.
